What I
wish for each of you this holiday is a joy-filled time with friends and family
that warms your heart. Find time to sing songs, play games and take walks together. Everyone pitch in with cooking and cleaning up. And even as the holiday comes to a close I wish the very
same for you each day of the year.
May the
memories of this season bring a smile to your face that can easily be carried
into the daily do's that life brings us.
Holiday
Tips!
We get so excited during the holidays because we
have hopes of experiencing and creating joyful moments to add to our memory
banks. Yes, there are gifts, as well as the overeating, too many sweets and the
occasional over-the-top stressful moment. With all these conditions present,
it's helpful to know how to increase moments of peace and joy through these Healthy Tips:
1. Dip the tip of a Q-Tip into some olive,
coconut or jojoba oil and swab the inside of the nasal passages. This adds a
thin protective layer that moistens the sometimes dry and cracked nasal
membrane during the winter months. This same protective layer helps to reduce
the airborne pollutants that are inhaled. I've used this for years when I know
I'm going to board a plane. I've heard many stories from those that travel
during the holidays that they find themselves getting sick after they return.
In part I think this is due to the recycled air. It may sound funny, but please take the time to
coat your nasal passages.
2. Take
three (3) digestive enzymes 30-minutes before you eat. Of course, eating less
too is helpful, but not many will adhere to such rules especially during the
holidays. If after an hour or two and you continue to feel full, take 3 more
digestive enzymes.
Why is it important to take enzymes? To ease the
job of the pancreas and liver thus easing tension on the body's digestive
system, which, of course assists the other systems of the body to function
better too.
Why am I telling you this? Because the majority of
heart attacks occur within a few days following Thanksgiving and Christmas. Let's
minimize any possible trips to the emergency room.
3. Make
no assumptions, breathe and drink a cup of chamomile tea. I love this one
because when assumptions are made, judgments jumped in, which, in turn, sets in
motion the reacting behavior in us. Once everyone is in the reacting and
judging mode, it's harder to find the reset button. Soooooooo, if you begin to
make assumptions, remember the other person is wishing for a joyful and
peaceful Christmas and Holiday Season too.
And if you must take a time out, go take a walk or
go in the bathroom and breathe, breathe, breathe and ask: Who would you be if
you didn't believe you were stressing......
The beauty is you'll return to center, which helps
those around you to find their center too.
Healthy
Holiday Gifts!
Now
I'd like to take a moment to talk about fun and different gifts for the holiday that
are healthy both internally and externally. The external side of it is buying
local this supports our community. Consider buying from a co-op that carry
wares from local artists, or find a fun and unique shop to your area.
In
Austin we have many unique shops. Some that I like are 10,000 Villages, The
Herb Bar, Tesoros, Nature's Treasures, Mi Casa just to name a few. Then we have
the Armadillo Christmas Bazaar, which will run through Christmas Eve.
What
about healthy on the inside? I like to fill stockings with vitamins, herbal
teas, essential oils, and nuts. Here are some great stocking stuffers that I
carry:
Velvet
Antler helps the bone feel strong while increasing the libido;
Pomegranate
Breast Oil is an ancient Ayurvedic recipe that improves the quality of the
breast tissue;
Iodine
removes heavy metals, helps the thyroid to function better, and improves the
reproduction system; and
Bioenergetic
Activators (BEA) are beautiful pendants that protect the body from harmful
EMF's while also shielding you from negativity. The BEA's I have on sale
through January 15th. They are discounted to $65 from $99.
What
are some other healthy gifts? Many people seem to have problems sleeping, so a
natural sleep aid like restful sleep, deep sleep, valerian root, melatonin are
all very good.
I
hope
this newsletter helps you during this holiday season that is upon us.
And be sure to call after Christmas to schedule your appointment so you
know what this upcoming year brings to you.
My office will be closed from Monday December 19th through Christmas Day. I will begin returning phone calls on the 26th.
